MSSA GUARANTEE

Membership does not cost it pays! Moreover, we can back that statement up with hard-hitting programs that drive incremental dollars to your bottom line. As a matter of fact, it is an MSSA policy that, "if you participate in our worker’s compensation and credit card processing program(s), MSSA GUARANTEES you will save at least 150% of the cost of dues, or your dues will be free for that year." We have many other cost saving programs to choose from as well.

HISTORY

The MSSA is a non-profit trade association formed in 1966 to represent and promote the advancement of all independent businesspersons engaged in the service station, convenience store, and automotive repair industry.

MSSA is here to secure and promote member benefits, improve conditions and industry cooperation. Also, to inform and educate members regarding business methods and technical advances.

Our Associate Members play a large part in providing members with products and services.

INFORMATION

Members receive monthly issues of the MSSA Newsline. This publication reports on current affairs and changes in the industry as they affect the owner/operator in the day-to-day operation of their business. This publication also presents the latest in legal and legislative issues and covers monthly activities of the Association.

Know-how- Got a problem? Need technical advice? The MSSA is as near as the telephone. If you need more detailed information, the MSSA can put you in touch with individuals who have the information you need.

Member Meetings- On a periodic basis, the MSSA will hold meetings in metro and greater MN to bring important information to our members. These meetings involve both training and updates on the Association’s position on industry topics that affect your business. All meeting dates and locations are publicized in the MSSA Newsline.

EVENTS

The MSSA sponsors several events each year. These events include: The Annual Meeting, Golf Outing, Fall Party, Informational Meetings, and Travel Program. A Trade Show, Educational Seminars, and Daytona500 are other events MSSA sponsors.

Special events allow members to get involved in their Association. It gives you a chance to vote on issues, socialize and keep up on the latest trends in the industry. The Association’s members are people who have the same concerns, needs and interests.

MEMBERSHIP VALUE

State Legislature- The legislative presence of MSSA at the Minnesota State Capitol is a primary benefit to all our members. MSSA monitors all legislation introduced to evaluate the impact on our industry. There are over 5,000 bills introduced each session. Many, of which impact our industry.

National Legislative Presence- MSSA is a member of the National Petroleum Retailers Organization (PRO-USA), the Service Station Dealers of America (SSDA), and the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS). MSSA is represented on the legislative committees of these organizations. MSSA monitors Federal Legislative issues and through our national affiliates. We lobby Congress via member contact and travel to Washington, DC on key issues.

Member Programs- MSSA obtains discounts based on the buying power of our membership. These discounts apply to different products from equipment leasing, credit card service and auto parts, to health, property & casualty, and workers’ compensation insurance.

Legal Counsel- MSSA’s legal counsel is renowned throughout our industry. They will review legal issues that affect your business and offer their recommendations as part of your membership. A "Free" review of any Oil Company lease is also a part of your membership.

Unity- You’re never alone when you join MSSA. Membership gives you the opportunity to participate in the policy-making decisions of MSSA. Members make all the major MSSA decisions. The best interests of members as a whole, are at the forefront of the Association. MSSA Board meetings are open to all. Specific dates and times are published monthly in the MSSA Newsline.

INSURANCE PROGRAMS

Workers’ Compensation- Our program offers the most competitive rates and keeps members informed on new and existing rules and regulations that will positively affect workers’ compensation insurance premiums.

Health Insurance- MSSA negotiated with various companies to satisfy our members’ health care requirements. We negotiated with these carriers because of their value and cost savings to our members. These insurance companies help service the needs of all our members, both large and small.

Non-Dues Association Revenue- MSSA earns non-dues revenue. This revenue is our way of offering special cost-saving programs to our membership while keeping the Association operating at peak efficiency.
